Purpose

The Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement of students pursuing graduate studies in Alberta. It was established to incent the best and the brightest students, including international students, to study in Alberta.  The number of awards available within each faculty is based on the previous years' full-time enrollments.  There are funds designated for Domestic/permanent residents, FNMI, and International students

In recognition of the growing importance of good governance to all Canadian institutions, the Canadian Foundation for Governance Research is offering annual Bertram Scholarships of $20,000 to PhD students registered at Canadian universities. The scholarship will support the work of students who are conducting research into organizational governance as part of their doctoral research project.

• Be a FT enrolled in a PhD program in the upcoming Fall Semester

• Have not exceeded 48 months in program

• Have not previously been awarded a Robert Bertram Doctoral Research Award or Bertram Scholarship

The Laura Bassi Scholarship, which awards a total of $8,000 thrice per annum, was established by Editing Press in 2018 with the aim of providing editorial assistance to postgraduates and junior academics whose research focuses on neglected topics of study, broadly construed. The scholarships are open to every discipline and is awarded three times a year.

The rare Charitable Research Reserve has partnered with the Ages Foundation Fund to financially assist students in pursuit of higher education. The Ages Foundation Research Fellowship & Bursaries program will allow students to study in a relatively undisturbed, yet highly accessible site in Waterloo Region. Applications that utilize multiple knowledge systems and diverse methodologies will be prioritized. The monetary awards will help ensure successful candidates have the necessary resources to conduct and report on their research at rare.

$15,000 will be distributed annually through this application process and awards will be given out in the following amounts: one (1) $5,000 award, 0ne (1) $5,000 BIPOC award, and up to five (5) $1,000 bursaries depending on the total number of outstanding applications received.

In memory of Shelagh Mikulak who was a leader in the library community, an innovator in her field, and an inspiration to those she worked with. Shelagh valued and respected the individuals she worked with throughout her career, mentoring aspiring and established librarians alike. As a long-standing and executive member of the Calgary Law Library Group, past president of the Special Libraries Association of Western Canada, and volunteer with the Canadian Library Association and Canadian Association of Law Libraries, Shelagh dedicated her time to encouraging the professional development of others in her field.

Scholarships awarded annually to female international or DACA students who are currently enrolled or accepted to study full-time in a STEM degree at a program MPOWER supports in the United States or Canada.

Eligibility

The student must:

• Be accepted at, or enrolled, in a full-time STEM degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and

• Be a female international student allowed to legally study in the U.S. or Canada, as applicable:

  • For study in the U.S., this means that the applicant is either a U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, or has a valid visa that permits study in the U.S.

  • For study in Canada, this means the applicant is either a Canadian permanent resident or has a valid Canadian study permit. 

You do not need to be an MPOWER borrower or applicant to apply for the MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship as long as you meet the eligibility criteria set forth above.

We have created this scholarship specifically for international and DACA students. Therefore, U.S. citizens wishing to study in the U.S. and Canadian citizens wishing to study in Canada are not eligible for this scholarship.
