Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 Scholarships

Important Notes

• Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and BBA double-degree students are now eligible for entrance scholarships with an admission average of 80% and higher.

• The scholarship for the admission average of 95.0 - 100% is the President's Gold Scholarship.

• You must be registered full time (2.0 credits minimum per term) to receive the full entrance scholarship amount and you must be registered in two terms within your first academic year. At Laurier, an academic year is from September to August.

• The value of your entrance scholarship is split between your first two terms of study.

Every year at Laurier, we welcome international students from around the world to our campuses. We value the diverse experiences and perspectives of our international students, and recognize the many ways they inspire lives throughout our communities.

The Inspiring Lives Scholarship is a prestigious entrance scholarship available exclusively to international students beginning their undergraduate studies at Laurier. The scholarship is awarded annually to students who inspire lives of leadership and purpose in their communities and through their extracurricular activities.

The scholarship is valued at $1,000 to $5,000 CAD.

Eligibility

All international students who have applied to Laurier and accepted their offer, and are entering their first year of undergraduate studies in the fall term are eligible to apply. Students can be studying in any undergraduate program at any of our campuses.

There is no minimum admissions average required to apply. This scholarship can also be awarded in addition to other entrance scholarships.

If your admission average is 95% or higher, we will award you with the President's Gold Scholarship for your first year at Laurier, which is worth $4,000 for domestic students and $6,000 for international students. If you maintain the eligibility requirements, you will receive another $4,000 (domestic) or $6,000 (international) per year for four years (or up to five for some programs).

This scholarship is automatically renewable if you achieve an annual GPA (grade point average) of 10.5 or higher based on the completion of a minimum of 5.0 full credits during the past academic year. We know it’s important to have a safe and comfortable place to live while you’re in university. We already have our residence guarantee for first-year undergraduate students and now we’re offering guaranteed housing for international students in all years of their studies at Laurier.

The upper-year housing guarantee is available to international undergraduate students beginning their studies in fall 2024, winter 2025 or fall 2025 in Brantford or Waterloo only.

Housing Styles

With the housing guarantee, you’ll live on campus in residence in your first year. In your upper years, you’ll live off campus in apartment-style housing, where you’ll have a full kitchen so you can prepare your own meals.

Housing Guarantee for Students Starting in the Fall

1. Accept your offer to Laurier to begin your studies in the fall (September).

2. Submit your residence application and deposit no later than the posted deadline.

3. Live in residence for your first year (required for the upper-year housing guarantee).

4. We’ll contact you each year with more information about upper-year housing for the following year.

5. Opt in to the upper-year housing guarantee by the communicated deadlines.

6. Live in off-campus housing in your upper years.

Housing Guarantee for Students Starting in the Winter

1. Accept your offer to Laurier to begin your studies in the winter (January).

2. Visit the residence application page to find more information on availability for first year on-campus housing beginning in the winter term.

3. Live in residence for your first year (if available, not required for the upper-year housing guarantee).

4. We’ll contact you each year with more information about upper-year housing for the following year.

5. Opt in to the upper-year housing guarantee by the communicated deadlines.

6. Live in off-campus housing in your upper years.

Stay Golden International Housing Guarantee Terms and Conditions

All international undergraduate Laurier students will have access to guaranteed housing in Laurier-managed facilities for four years (or five years for select programs). The following terms and conditions must be met to access the housing guarantee each year:

• All deadlines outlined by the Department of Residence must be met by the student, including the residence application and deposit deadline in year 1 (June 2, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST) for students beginning studies in fall 2025.

• The student must begin their undergraduate studies in fall 2024, winter 2025 or fall 2025.

• Students beginning their studies in winter 2025 are not required to live in first year on-campus housing to be eligible for the upper-year housing guarantee.

• Once a student has opted out of the Stay Golden International Housing Guarantee, they are no longer eligible to receive this benefit in future years.

• Students must maintain full-time student status in order to take advantage of the housing guarantee.

• Students will be subject to the Residence Agreement, Residence Code of Conduct, and/or Ezra-Bricker Residence Agreement as well as the Laurier Non-Academic Student Code of Conduct while living in Laurier residence or housing. Failure to abide by terms and conditions in those documents could result in forfeiture of housing.

• Students will be subject to Board-approved residence and housing fees. If a student’s account is in arrears, they will forfeit the housing guarantee for future years.

• Students participating in a graduate program or the Bachelor of Education program are not eligible for the Stay Golden International Housing Guarantee.

The Stay Golden International Scholarship is a renewable entrance scholarship. The value awarded is based on your final admissions average for your first year, then on your GPA during your studies at Laurier for upper years. This scholarship is available to international undergraduate students studying in Brantford, Milton or Waterloo.

Stay Golden International Scholarship Values

Stay Golden International Scholarship Terms and Conditions

If you are a recipient of the Stay Golden International Scholarship, you must meet all the conditions outlined below to receive your award:

• You must accept your Offer of Admission by the deadline outlined on your offer.

• You must meet all conditions listed by the deadline on your offer of admission letter.

• Your studies must begin in fall 2024, winter 2025 or fall 2025.

• The Stay Golden International Scholarship cannot be deferred. Applicants deferring their offer will automatically be considered for the Entrance Scholarship Grid.

• To receive the Stay Golden International Scholarship in your first year, you must be registered for full-time studies (a minimum of 2.0 credits in a term) in two terms in an academic year (September through August), completing a total of 5.0 credits in the same period.

  • Note: Transfer credits do not count towards these credits.

• Applicants who have received the International President’s Gold Scholarship are eligible to maintain this scholarship at its greater value, if all requirements are met. Students cannot receive both the President's Gold Scholarship and the Stay Golden Scholarship.

• Stay Golden International Scholarship recipients must be paying international tuition and incidental fees.

• Students participating in a graduate program, or the Bachelor of Education program are not eligible.

• By being a recipient of the Stay Golden International Scholarship, you agree to allow your name and program of study to be used by the University to create and maintain a public record and feature recipients on Laurier websites for the purposes of promoting and celebrating the Award program.
