Nipissing University is primarily an undergraduate public university located in North Bay, Ontario. Overlooking Lake Nipissing, the university is renowned for providing an individualised student experience with small class sizes and supportive and accessible professors. Having a reputation for excellence in teacher education, science, arts, and professional programs, Nipissing University also has four distinct nursing programs, due to which it is known as the most nursing-intensive university in Ontario. The university offers around 30 areas of study, and many of them have opportunities for internships or experiential learning.
The university's roots extend back to 1967 with the formation of Nipissing University College as an affiliate of Laurentian University. In 1992, it received the charter as an independent university and was finally incorporated to address the specific needs of Northern Ontario. The Residence at Nipissing University provides students with a safe, comfortable learning and living environment that helps them grow as individuals and develop long-lasting relationships. The housing styles have two options: suite-styled complexes housing up to 4 students and a townhouse-style complex accommodating up to 6 students. All the residences are within walking distance from the main campus.
Each residence has a full-time Residence Life Supervisor closely working with a team of senior students to assist first-year students with any problems they may face and organise fun events throughout the year. The various services provided to students in the residential complexes include:
The main campus of Nipissing University is situated in North Bay, a facility shared with Canadore College. Apart from this, the university also has a satellite campus in Southern Ontario.
