These scholarships are offered to students who are entering university for the first time on the basis of the full International Baccalaureate Diploma. Seven award tiers will be set, with the required points and the amount of award determined annually. As an example, the 2024/25 tiers and the accompanying award values are as follows:
Students who have already received a University of Manitoba Entrance Scholarship which is equal to or greater than the amount in their IB tier listed above will not receive any further funding. Students whose UM Entrance Scholarship amount is lower than their IB tier will receive an award for the difference. This award is open to candidates from any province or country. Eligibility criteria:A variable number of scholarships will be offered to graduate students who: (1) are international students (i.e. those in Canada on study permits) (2) are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in either: (a) the second year of a Master's program with a two-year fee structure; (b) the second year of a Ph.D. program with a two-year fee structure; or (c) the second or third year of a Ph.D. program with a three-year fee structure (3) are paying the international student differential tuition fee; (4) have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on their last 60 credit hours of study (or equivalent) or last equivalent two years; (5) show great promise as researchers and as graduate students; (6) are not recipients of external award funding that pays for their tuition. This scholarship may be held with the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) and other awards offered by the University of Manitoba, but may not be held in conjunction with the International Graduate Student Entrance Scholarship or the International Graduate Student Bursary. Students may be considered for this scholarship in each year of eligible study. Students who are enrolled in a re-registration year and are paying only continuing fees are not eligible for consideration.
