The University of Guelph is one of Canada’s top comprehensive and research-intensive universities in Ontario. The University was established in 1964, but its roots can be traced back more than 150 years to the founding colleges of Ontario Veterinary College, Macdonald Institute, and Ontario Agricultural College. The University of Guelph has one of Canada's largest university housing systems. Students have the option to reside in 14 different co-ed campus residences. The East Village Townhouses, consisting of 164 four and six-bedroom self-contained units, house the upper-year and international students.
Other residencies include the South Residence ( home to 1800 students), East Residence (610 students), Lesson/Addington Hall (520), Lambton Hall (400), Watson Hall (67, Female only) West Residences (110). The West Residences promote diverse programs and opportunities for community involvement.
