Vanier College is an English-language CEGEP located in Montreal, Canada. Established in 1970, Vanier College is one of the 48 public CEGEPs in the province and is the second-largest English-language College in the public collegiate system of Quebec.
Vanier offers more than 25 programs in two-year pre-university courses apart from the three-year technical courses. The full-time pre-university programs cover the subject matter, and the duration of studies corresponds to an additional year of high school elsewhere in Canada, preparing a student for a chosen field to be continued through university education. The technical programs lead to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS). The College currently has around 8,000 students enrolled in various programs, including many international students.
The Student Services Department at Vanier College specifically organizes recreational, social and cultural activities through its division Vanier Student Life. The College also provides scholarships and grants to deserving candidates in different categories. They can also work while earning their diplomas by registering on the Student Employment portal at the College. Apart from these services, students can also take advantage of the Career Counseling unit that helps students in making sound professional decisions.
Students get mental health services wherein they can talk about any issue (ranging from learning disabilities, gender identity, eating and personality disorders, addictions and relationship problems) that impedes their professional development and personal growth.
International students can also take up language courses available in French and English and short-term courses in Spanish, Japanese, Italian, Ukrainian, Mandarin and American Sign Language.
Vanier College doesn’t have in-house residence options for the students, but many students stay at the Residence du Cégep Saint-Laurent. A member f the Vanier team can assist with questions regarding accommodation at the College.
Vanier College is located on an oasis in the Borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal, Quebec. It occupies buildings purchased by the government from a private women’s college and the Soeurs de Sainte-Croix, who used to operate a convent earlier. Montreal is a multicultural city that welcomes students from all walks of life, making it easier for international students to feel comfortable.
Montreal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport is the closest international airport to Vanier.
