Development Studies is a branch of social science that examines issues related to developing countries, especially those concerning social and economic development. Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution both aim to identify and analyze the violent and non-violent behaviour that causes social conflict, with the intention of creating a more stable world and society.
Development Studies involve the study of anthropology, globalization, economics, environment and international development. At the same time, Peace Studies look at international politics, arms control and proliferation, human rights, politics of the global environment, democracy, religion and politics.
Development Studies graduates will find employment in non-governmental organizations, charitable institutions, local or international government, research, teaching and advisory organizations.
Entry requirements vary for each Canadian university, but students will need an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, no lower than 6.0 in each component, and an International Baccalaureate score of 34 points.
