Province of Alberta to fund non-profit organisation to attract international students to area

The Government of Alberta has announced that it is spending $1 million to establish a non-profit organisation that will work to attract more international students to the area.

The Alberta Bureau International Education will showcase the strengths and innovative programs of the post-secondary institutions in the province.

The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, which is among the top ten educational institutions in the province of Alberta, is to establish the non-profit as an independent board-governed organisation. It will have representation from the post-secondary institutions and industry stakeholders of the province. 

Minister of Education, Demetrios Nicolaides said: “Even though Alberta already has two of the largest universities that already attract many international students, the proposed non-profit organisation will help in showcasing to the world what the entire post-secondary education system has to offer.”

The post-secondary education system in Alberta is already known for its excellent range of colleges, universities, technical institutes and research facilities. Alberta is one of the most desired destinations to pursue higher education in Canada because of the high standard of living, affordable cost of living, post-graduation employment rates and favourable immigration options for students.
