Leading Canadian universities all climb 2024 QS World University Rankings league table

The best three universities in Canada all climbed up the rankings in the 2024 QS World University Rankings.

The University of Toronto ranked 21st in the world, making a significant improvement from its 34th position in 2023, receiving high scores in sustainability (99.9), academic reputation (99.7), and employment outcomes (96.4). Elsewhere McGill University rose one place to 30th in the world. The University of British Columbia made the biggest gain, rising to 34th from 47th.

The QS World University Rankings are the most used global rankings and are a measure of a university’s global reputation. For 2024, QS has implemented an enhanced methodology, introducing three new metrics; Sustainability, Employment Outcomes and International Research Network, as well as adjusting the weighting of existing indicators, including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, and Faculty Student Ratio.
